This means there is always room to expect something better, even at the best of times. This is important because all the progress mankind has made out of barbarism into relative enlightenment has been due to hope...believing that things can be different, and better, than what exists.
Today, most observers agree that what we have around us as society is far from the ideal. It is not therefore difficult to wish and hope for something better.what we have today is NOT serving our best interests.
There lies the road then: agreeing that what we have is not ideal, and thinking of something better. This could be our way out of the bind we have found ourselves in. We, humanity as a whole, need to redirect our thinking, and fast. What is around us need to be changed.
The needed change can only come about through different ways of looking at, and thinking about, reality. That is why hope is an important principle. The firm conviction that things can be better gives the foundation on which to base constructive thinking to make things better.
The powers at our command as spirit beings are immense. And we can use this as we like. Starting with our thoughts, we can achieve a lot. This is why we have been told that the place to start towards a new humanity is to Keep the hearth of our thoughts pure. Pure thoughts surely can not lead to impure action or impure reality.
So, hope gives rise to the wish to improve things, and the wish to improve things should lead to different courses of action. To change our world therefore, we need to change our thinking. Hope is a strong helper in this. We must hold on stubbornly to hope. Hope that things can be better than they are, and that we are capable of making this change.
Hope is eternal, as improvement is eternal. Surely our planet can be better. Hope can guide us in this. Our best minds, while thinking to solve present problems, should go further to find out how these problems can be avoided altogether. Hope tells us that everything is possible. Including a better way of living on this planet.
Hope should guide us to better ways of everything.
