How long would it be?

How long indeed?

Oh yes, how long would it be, how long would it have to be, before Humanity learns her lessons?

We have enough information already...

The information we have today about our planet and ourselves should be enough for sentient beings that we claim  to be to develop a proper paradigm for all in living out our few years on this planet earth.

For centuries, mystics have been telling us that our universe is composed of several layers of unseen matter,  with our physical, visible universe  being the last ramifications.

Some scientific research has also been telling us that it is possible what is unseen in the universe  is much more than what we are seeing. Enough scientific research exists today that suggest  quite strongly that physical death as we know it, is not the end of existence.

With our research  too, we know the best things to eat, the best way to live, the best types of energy that we should promote. Dirty energy for instance obviously have no future. The sun represents an inexhaustible source of energy for the earth,  since the sun is predicted to outlive planet earth.

Wars can not be won...
We also know, that a nuclear war is unwinnable, as even those who win will not enjoy the aftermath. So also are any large scale wars like the two world wars. And to constantly waste the resources of the planet spending billions yearly to  develop weaponry  to prosecute small wars like Iraq, Afghanistan, War on terror etc, is unjustifiable.

All are 'trapped' on planet earth
Finally,  in a manner of speaking, we all, all of humanity, are trapped on our planet earth, a rather insignificant speck of dust floating aimlessly round and round the sun as part of nine  planetary bodies which we call the solar system. The solar system itself moving around the centre of our milky way galaxy: merely one of billions of galaxies in a physical  universe of unimaginable  size. Our planet seem of little importance, except that we live there. It is not easy to separate ourselves one from the other on our planet, as we seem intent on doing, by creating petty divisions. The  earth is a spaceship with all of us in it, which can not, and even dare not leave it's orbit.

No one can expect to be satisfied while fellow prisoners in the spaceship are unsatisfied. . What logic should tell us therefore is that we should develop a system that will have love,  cooperation and sustainability  as its bedrock. The kaleidoscopic variety of nations and selfish narrow interests is therefore obsolete  in its being unsustainable  for the long haul.

New paradigms necessary, new ideas imperative...
The UN, but more importantly  the developed countries  should by now be laying  a foundation for a new world.  Not continuing  on petty rat races to control the resources of the rest of the world, or attempt to waste so much resources on defense, a quaint concept given that no country can be an oasis of prosperity  and peace if surrounded  by a desert of chaos. As of today, our scientific research about the world, our knowledge  of ourselves, and physical matter,  analysed  in the context of world history, should dictate, by iron logic of survival, different roads from the ones we are taking now, as a specie.

We have been living a negative life...
Lessons that we can learn from what humanity and his planet has gone through since man stepped foot on the earth is that we have been living the wrong way, and this way is headed for a cataclysmic or a silent end of humanity. Unless we change. The dinosaurs, who ruled the planet for millions of years, did not live in nearly such a dangerous  manner as humanity is doing today.  But despite enduring for millions of years, dinosaur became history.

We have the edge...
Man has the advantage over other creatures, of being able to survey the history of the planet, evolution of life on it, and the arrival of man as the most disruptive specie in earth's history. This should allow us reexamine our delinquent  ways and make amends.

If our leaders everywhere would listen,  Humanity today can and should be a less violent group, we should reduce our careless consumption, reduce competition  for plundering of the resources of the earth and organize our production into clusters with competitive  advantage as criteria, and aim at a cooperation  among peoples,  creatures and flora and fauna of the earth   for the good of all.

Then we can discover our purpose on spaceship earth
If we today turn a genuine new leaf, then,  perhaps then, we  can begin to see clearly enough to attempt to understand  the real reasons we are on this planet. For now, destructive competition and mindless pursuit of material glitter is not allowing us understand  what we are doing here. Certainly  we can not be on this earth  merely to simply be born, consume, reproduce and die?

We should put our experiences together, analyze it, turn a new leaf, and then go further  to discover the purpose  of man on earth.

And time seem to be running out!
